Safari
DAY 1 (2nd January 2026) — Arusha to Tarangire (Full Afternoon Game Drive)
07:30 — Your driver–guide collects you from Arusha and you begin your journey south towards Tarangire National Park, descending through Masai country and passing small homesteads scattered across open plains.
10:00 — Arrive at the Tarangire main gate and begin your first game drive. Tarangire is celebrated for its dense elephant populations, its striking baobab forests, and its broad wetlands that attract buffalo, zebra, giraffe, eland and, in January, superb birdlife.
13:00 — Picnic lunch at Matete or Silale picnic site.
14:00–17:30 — Continue game driving through the park’s core zones:
- Tarangire River Circuit – ideal for elephants and general plains game.
- Silale Swamp – one of the best predator zones in the park.
- Baobab Valley – excellent for photography in the green season.
Because your camp is inside the park, you can enjoy a long, unhurried afternoon without the need to exit early.
17:30 — Arrive at Mawe Baobab Safari Camp. Enjoy sundowners overlooking the acacia and baobab-studded landscape, followed by dinner under the stars.
Overnight: Mawe Baobab Safari Camp (inside Tarangire)
DAY 2 (3rd January 2026) — Morning Tarangire Game Drive, then Return to JRO (Arrival by 16:00)
06:30 — Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at camp.
07:00–09:30 — Morning game drive from camp. Because you are already inside the park, you reach prime wildlife areas immediately. Early light often brings:
- Elephant herds moving along the river
- Grazers emerging from the woodlands
- Lions still active before the heat rises
- Superb photographic conditions across wetland zones
This is the most productive game-drive window in January.
09:30–10:00 — Begin your journey out of the park and towards Arusha.
10:00–12:30 — Drive back to Arusha.
12:30–13:30 — Lunch stop in Arusha, or packed lunch en route depending on preference.
13:30–15:30 — Continue to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), arriving by 16:00 with a safe operational buffer.
